Sr Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
Working closely with the entire Freedom Innovations engineering team, he/she will be responsible for the mechanical engineering new product development, existing product improvements, and existing product support of various lower limb prosthetic feet and/or ankle devices.
Responsibilities
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure that new products are released on schedule with robust designs and acceptance testing methodologies that achieve cost objectives.
Performs stress tests, analyzes data, and prepares reports.
Prepares preliminary and detailed design drawings and design specifications.
Directs work of designers and technicians as required.
Participate on cross functional teams as a team member.
Supports existing products with problem solving and continuous improvement of cost and quality objectives.
Manufacturing line support as needed.
Implement process and product changes using existing change control process.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in design and development.
Experience in design and manufacturing of composite materials.
Knowledge of FDA regulatory requirements for the medical device industry desired.
Ability to complete FEA on both component and assemblies of both linear and non-linear materials desired.
Hydraulic actuator knowledge and experience a plus.
Established history of taking projects from concept through design, verification and validation, and commercial release.
Experience working in an ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485 environment.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Proficient in 3D modeling software, preferably SolidWorks and/or Catia
Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office
Excellent technical writing and report writing abilities.
Excellent interpersonal skills and presentation skills.
Results oriented, works independently, and manages multiple projects simultaneously.
